Role purpose
Sherlock Communications is looking for an experienced Finance Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running and continual improvement of our international finance function. Working closely with our CFO, founders and Managing Directors, you will own the operational finance processes that keep the business running, from client contracting and invoicing to cash flow forecasting, management reporting and finance process improvement.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building efficient systems, improving processes and working across multiple countries and currencies.
Key responsibilities
Revenue operations
- Own end-to-end client invoicing across the UK and support invoicing across Brasil and the wider Latin American business.
- Manage receivables and collections, ensuring healthy debtor balances.
- Oversee client financial onboarding and commercial setup.
- Ensure revenue-related financial processes are accurate, efficient and scalable.
Financial operations
- Coordinate UK payment execution and cash flow forecasting.
- Consolidate financial information from Sherlock's UK, Brasil and LATAM entities.
- Produce monthly finance and management reports for the leadership team.
- Develop and enhance financial reporting, dashboards and KPIs to support better business decision-making.
Commercial support
- Support the finance aspects of client contracts and renewals.
- Review commercial documentation and ensure financial terms are accurately reflected.
- Provide financial analysis to support pricing, profitability and commercial decision-making.
- Coordinate the financial onboarding of new clients.
Process improvement
- Identify opportunities to automate, simplify and strengthen finance processes.
- Maintain and document finance procedures, ensuring key workflows are scalable and not dependent on a single individual.
- Partner with the CFO to drive continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.
Team coordination
- Coordinate and prioritise day-to-day finance operations across multiple entities.
- Work closely with external accountants in the UK, Brasil and other Latin American countries.
- Promote knowledge sharing and process consistency across the finance function.
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience in finance operations, management accounting or finance administration.
- Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to build and improve financial models and reporting dashboards.
- Experience with Xero (or similar cloud accounting software).
- Fluent written and spoken English and Portuguese are essential. Spanish would be an advantage.
- Experience working across multiple currencies.
- Outstanding organisational skills.
- A genuine interest in improving processes and building scalable systems.
- Experience with agencies or professional services businesses would be an advantage.
