This is a fully remote, project-based Cargo. You will be brought on as an independent contractor for an initial 3-month project, with the possibility of extending into a long-term role based on performance and ongoing need.

Empresa Overview

Jones is a vertical AI Empresa that helps real estate and construction firms make smarter decisions about insurance so they can boost efficiency and mitigate risk. Across more than 2.5 billion square feet of real estate and construction projects, Jones enables clients to leverage AI, software, and data to accelerate and strengthen insurance verification, collection, integration, and decision-making across commercial and residential asset classes.

We're building a report powered entirely by real, proprietary compliance data and auditing experience. In this role, you'll help uncover the real story behind how insurance compliance actually works across real estate and construction: where processes break down at scale, where the biggest risks and operational strain hide, how teams can gain more control over their workflows, and where AI can help versus where human expertise still matters most. Your work will help Jones tell a sharper, more credible story about compliance - grounded entirely in real data.

Cargo Overview

As a Data Analyst Consultant, you'll determine which insights can be credibly supported by Jones' data and help define clear and defensible metrics. In doing so, you'll translate broad business questions into measures that reflect how Jones actually manages insurance compliance, documenting how each is defined, what data it draws on, and what limitations apply. You'll work with internal teams to access, clean, and analyze the relevant data, partnering closely with our insurance specialists to fact-check findings and ensure the analysis reflects real-world compliance behavior. The goal isn't simply to produce charts, but to understand what Jones' data can credibly and concretely reveal about the state of the industry and its dynamics - turning that understanding into clean, well-documented outputs that our Marketing team can build into a compelling, data-backed report.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver a prioritized list of report insights that are feasible using Jones' proprietary data, including rationale for prioritization.
  • Work hands-on with complex, real-world operational data – including gaps, inconsistencies, and evolving definitions – applying sound judgement to clean and structure it for analysis, flagging any issues that could affect validity.
  • Develop structured, repeatable methods for processing and analyzing data.
  • Produce clean, analysis- and chart-ready data outputs (tables, aggregates, etc.).
  • Document methodology, data provenance, cleaning rules, assumptions, limitations, and required caveats for all analyses.
  • Collaborate closely with Jones' insurance specialists to validate that data interpretations match real-world compliance behavior and operational workflows.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, and Operations, responding to ad hoc requests for specific data cuts and insights.
  • Help shape decisions about what's ready to share publicly, balancing business impact with analytical rigor.
  • Summarize the strongest findings in a concise, executive-ready brief highlighting business relevance and confidence levels.

Who You Are

  • 2+ years of data analysis experience, with strong SQL skills.
  • Experience working with SaaS, product, customer, or operations data.
  • Skilled at cleaning messy or incomplete datasets without losing analytical rigor.
  • Strong judgment in metric design, able to turn ambiguous questions into clear analysis.
  • Experience producing external-facing benchmarks or data-backed thought leadership
  • Excellent written and spoken English; can explain technical findings to non-technical teams.
  • Strong documentation habits.
  • Comfortable challenging assumptions when data doesn't support the desired narrative.
  • Available 40 hrs/week during U.S. business hours.

Why Join Jones

  • Become an expert in an area of real estate/construction operations and insurance that is undergoing serious digital transformation
  • Join an award-winning Empresa tracking best-in-class SaaS growth month-over-month.
  • Fair compensation with performance-based raises and bonuses;
  • Learn directly from talented, experienced leaders who are invested in your growth.
  • Gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, multicultural startup environment.
  • Be part of a lean, agile team with a strong culture and a big vision.
  • Help Jones execute on a massive vision to build a network for risk & compliance transactions in the built world
  • Develop a strong understanding of SaaS operations fundamentals and skills needed to grow in a start-up Empresa.

Our culture

Our goal is to build a Empresa where people feel ownership of their role and are able to grow and enrich their skills and experience. We also want to create an environment where people are challenged and encouraged to be entrepreneurial. We rely on our team to help identify and take action on initiatives that can move our business forward. Elements of our culture that can be seen in every one of our people are the following:

  • Take care of yourself – Building a category-leading Empresa is hard. It can only be achieved by encouraging and enabling our team’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
