Role Overview

We are seeking a Media Tech Support professional to support file-based media workflows in a dynamic and global environment.

This role is responsible for handling support requests, collaborating with engineering teams to resolve issues, validating solutions, and maintaining accurate technical documentation.

The ideal candidate is highly self-sufficient, capable of working independently, and committed to delivering high-quality support and excellent customer experience. Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact for media technology support issues
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to transcoding, automated QC, and content delivery
  • Maintain and support media encoding and transcoding platforms, ensuring performance and reliability
  • Work with cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking
  • Create and maintain documentation, including runbooks and escalation procedures
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and document solutions
  • Partner with engineering teams to implement fixes and improvements

Required Skills & Experience

Media & Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of video, audio, and timed text within a content supply chain
  • Knowledge of media containers (MOV, MXF, MP4, MPEG-TS)
  • Familiarity with video codecs (H.264, H.265/HEVC, ProRes, MPEG-2) and audio codecs (AAC, AC3, EAC3, BWF)
  • Understanding of frame rates, resolutions, scan types, and color spaces

Systems & Tools

  • Experience with Linux and Windows Server
  • Familiarity with Jira and Slack
  • Experience working in customer support or service-oriented environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Automation & Integration

  • Experience manipulating video, audio, and subtitles via APIs, JSON, or command line
  • Proficiency in creating or modifying JSON/XML workflows for transcoding and QC
  • Understanding of API protocols

Cloud

  • Experience working with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Ability to operate and test systems in cloud-based environments (Linux/Windows instances)

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud-based transcoding systems
  • Knowledge of AWS architecture and Well-Architected Framework
  • Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Perl, or Ruby)
  • Experience with subtitle and caption formats (SRT, VTT, IMSC, TTML, etc.)
  • Familiarity with IMF, Dolby Vision, or Dolby Atmos
  • Knowledge of shared storage systems (NAS or object storage)
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Experience working with global teams

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent academic experience in media workflows
  • Technical certifications are a plus
